L e t s le ep in g dogs
lie? Lisa Christophe
realized she couldn’t
do that anymore. “My
husband, Tom, was OK
with one dog sleeping
on our bed, two were
tolerated, but three were
just too many!” Lisa
made everyone happy
by turning three old
suitcases found in her
Lafayette, California,
garage into deluxe dog
beds for Skeeter, a
Yorkie-Poo, and Maddie,
a Shiranian, as well as
her other Yorkie-Poo,
Otis. She replaced
the old linings with
new ones made using
fabrics she collects for
her handbag business
(ladidahandbags.com).
The cushions have
washable covers; for
safety, dowels in each
case’s hinges keep the lid
open. The dogs definitely
like their new digs, Lisa
says. “After I finished
the first bed, Skeeter
climbed right in.” ■

“Our dogs used to
make themselves
at home in our
bed. Now they
have the best beds
in the house.”
